2007 GMC Sierra Denali Road Test
by Justin Pritchard , Auto123.com
Uptown, Downtown or out of town, GMC's Sierra Denali aims to please

The Sierra Denali is the pickup equivalent of a job-site foreman: a machine that's not afraid to roll up its sleeves when needed, but one that has a higher degree of responsibility than a more simple work truck.

The 2007 Sierra's interior is leaps and bounds ahead of the last generation.

Inside, drivers are greeted with wood trim, metallic and chrome accents and plenty of features and gadgets. The cabin feels huge, and the overall sense of size and roominess adds to the experience. It's a great interior to relax in and it's leaps and bounds ahead of the last generation.

Denali makes a great partner if you've got to bring the family and some motorized toys with you out of town--no matter the season. A full arsenal of safety features is included for confident travels.

There's even remote start, heated seats, heated washer fluid and automatic climate control to help tackle the winter blahs.

Under the massive hood is 6.2 litres of furious Vortec V8. Total output is 403 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed autobox is standard, and though Denali may be an un-aerodynamic leviathan, with six gears and AWD, it seriously hauls.

Massive grille hides massive power and quite nearly massive fuel consumption.

It seriously hauls fuel out of the tank too. Driven gently, you'll average fuel consumption around 12.5 L/100 km on the highway and about 16.5 L/100 km in the city. That's not terrible for a 400+ horsepower truck to be honest--no surprise as GM makes some of the most fuel-efficient V8 engines on the road.

Just make sure you'll benefit from the Denali's power and capability before choosing one--as you'll pay for it every day.

As far as a hard-working, great-looking, luxurious and well bolted-together pickup goes, it's in a class of its own.
